5 Reasons To Take a Star Wars Day at Sea Cruise

From January to March 2020, you can enjoy out-of-this-galaxy experiences on special seven-night Caribbean cruises aboard the Disney Fantasy.

Courtesy of Disney Destinations

It doesn’t matter if you are Padawans or Jedis. When it comes to your knowledge of the saga, there are fun activities for everyone! Here are the top five legendary experiences you can have while sailing on the high seas.

1. Feel the Force with out-of-this-galaxy entertainment.

Watch as some of the saga’s most iconic moments come to life during this exclusive, nighttime deck show. See some of Star Wars most popular characters, including Rey! Immerse yourself and let the Force flow through you during the fireworks at sea spectacular set to John Williams’ Star Wars score.

2. Help Chewbacca in a fun-filled scavenger hunt.

There are porgs onboard! You can help your favorite Wookiee find the porgs that are wreaking havoc throughout the ship. At the end, you can also meet Chewbacca as he congratulates you on a job well done!

3. Experience epic encounters.

Whether you are a part of the light side or have dabbled into the dark side, you’re sure to see some familiar and exciting faces. Meet Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Darth Vader during scheduled photo sessions. Be on the lookout…you might just see some First Order Stormtroopers or Jawas wandering around the ship.

4. Brush up on Star Wars knowledge.

During the sailing, all films in the Star Wars saga will air on the big screen so you can jog your memory. You can also stop by Star Wars 101, an interactive session designed to give you the lowdown on all things Star Wars. Once you’re a Star Wars expert, gather the family and join a game of Star Wars trivia!

5. Let the little ones have their own fun.

Inside Disney’s Oceaneer Club, little rebels can join the Resistance when members of the resistance and BB-8 come by looking for recruits. In the Star Wars: Command Post, kids can even defend against the First Order during a fun puzzle-solving adventure game.

This one-day event is perfect for those who want to combine the magic of a Disney cruise with the thrilling adventures of Star Wars. Consider adding on a pre or post-cruise visit to Hollywood Studios to see the all new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as well! We can make it happen and we never charge a fee.  Contact a Vacations with Character® Travel Professional for a free, n0-obligation quote today!

First Look at Disney Wish and New Disney Island

At the D23 Expo 2019 yesterday, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman, Bob Chapek, announced the highly anticipated name of the fifth Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Wish. It’s very fitting because making wishes come true is at the heart of so many Disney stories.

A beloved hallmark of Disney Cruise Line is a tradition to adorn the back of their ships with an iconic character that reflects the theme of each vessel. For the Disney Wish, the ship’s stern will feature Rapunzel. Our favorite artsy princess, paintbrush in hand, uses her enchanted hair to suspend herself as she decorates the stern of the ship with the help of her feisty sidekick, Pascal. Spirited, smart, curious and above all, adventurous, Rapunzel embodies the wish and desire to see and experience the world.

A first glance of the ship’s elegant atrium was also revealed:

The ship’s atrium will be a bright, airy and elegant space inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale.

Castaway Cay, a beloved private Island of Disney Cruise Line, will be joined by a second tropical destination in The Bahamas, which will be located on the breathtaking island of Eleuthera at a place called Lighthouse Point. The new destination will celebrate both the stories of The Bahamas and the natural environment of Lighthouse Point itself.

Bob was joined by Imagineer Joe Rohde to share a first look at the plans for the second island destination in The Bahamas.

Joe Rohde, whose work includes the design of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, has embarked on an in-depth cultural tour of The Bahamas. With local artists and cultural experts, he has explored cultural sites across New Providence and Eleuthera, from Junkanoo shacks to noted art galleries.

Joe points out that Disney will be directly involved in conservation efforts to preserve and protect the environment and will be working with local artists to create a unique destination that is rooted in Bahamian culture and filled with Disney magic.

Construction at Lighthouse Point will begin only after an Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan are reviewed and accepted by the Government of The Bahamas and public consultation has occurred. Construction could begin in 2020 with completion in late 2022 or 2023.

The Disney Wish is scheduled for delivery in late 2021 and will set sail in January 2022. The vessel will join Disney Cruise Line’s award-winning fleet where you experience the magic of Disney entertainment combined with the relaxation of tropical, sun-drenched beaches and the adventure of ocean cruising. Disney Wish will also be powered by liquefied natural gas and, at approximately 144,000 gross tons and 1,250 guest staterooms, be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

There’s so much to look forward to on the high seas! Stay tuned as we look forward to sharing more exciting details with you in the future. And in the meantime, it’s not to late to set sail on Disney’s Magic, Wonder, Dream or Fantasy. Contact us a for a free no-obligation quote!

5 Reasons a Disney Cruise is a Dream Come True

Today we’re sharing 5 reasons a cruise aboard the Disney Dream is a dream come true. Take a look!

Disney Dream – Photo Courtesy of Disney Destinations

1. It’s the perfect option for a land and sea vacation. A short cruise aboard the Disney Dream is best when combined with a visit to the theme Parks. The Disney Dream departs from Port Canaveral, Florida, less than an hour drive from Walt Disney World® Resort, so you can easily extend your 3- or 4-night cruise into a week-long Disney vacation.

2. All Disney Dream cruises visit Disney’s dreamy private island, Castaway Cay. The views on Castaway Cay are like something out of a movie with pristine white-sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The best part is that this sliver of paradise is fitted with everything you need for a day at the beach, including lounge chairs, umbrellas, hammocks, water activities and an all-you-care-to-eat lunch buffet.

3. You’ll be enchanted by a tale as old as time in a whole new way. Exclusively on the Disney Dream, “Beauty and the Beast” is the newest Disney Cruise Line musical to hit the stage aboard this ship. The production was developed by a team of talented Broadway artists who adapted the story for the stage with innovative puppetry, cutting-edge theatrical design and breakthrough story-telling techniques.

4. Everyone in the family will be entertained. Like all Disney ships, the Disney Dream has venues and activities designed specifically for each member of the family. While the kids are piloting the Millennium Falcon and making new friends in the youth spaces, the grown-ups can live it up in The District – a playground just for adults in the evenings. Of course, there’s a ton for the family to do together, too, like deck parties, live shows and the thrilling AquaDuck water coaster.

5. There are plenty of ways for you to treat yourself. Whether you indulge in fine dining at Remy and Palo, a luxurious treatment at Senses Spa or a decadent dessert at Vanellope’s, you can spoil yourself and your loved ones all day long. To surprise the kids with something extra-special, book an appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a princess, knight or pirate makeover so they can feel like the royalty they truly are!
